About the Business

Dryland Fisheries is a small rainbow trout fish hatchery located in the Village of Golden Prairie in the Southwest corner of Saskatchewan – One of only two hatcheries selling fingerlings in Saskatchewan!

Dryland Fisheries started operation in 2015, with the first fingerlings being sold in the Spring of 2016. Since then we have sold rainbow trout fingerlings to stock dugouts, sloughs, and ponds near and far in the province. Fish have travelled as close as 15min, to as far as 7.5 hours!

About the Owner

Steven first opened Dryland Fisheries after working at the fish farm on Lake Diefenbaker (Wild West Steelhead) for several years. He bought the equipment from someone looking to retire, and set up the new Dryland Fisheries hatchery in Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan. Steven is knowledgeable and dedicated to raising the fish and always learning something new – looking for better ways to raise beautiful, fat fish (mmm tasty!). He is married to Shelley, who handles most of the office work, and they have two beautiful daughters.
